We define the story before we roll camera.
OME Productions is a documentary-style production house. We develop the strategy: what to film, who to film, and how to film them. Video communication is not just a story, it is also strategy.
Two ways we can work together.
Some projects need to be figured out from scratch. Other projects just need to figure out the execution.
You have a story, not yet a plan.
We run a consultation to set the goals for the campaign, define what success looks like, and build the strategy, what gets filmed, who's on camera, and how it's shot, before anything is scheduled.
You already know what you need.
If the direction is set, we come on for production, interviews, B-roll, and the reels cut from that footage, without re-running a strategy process you've already done. We are a complement for your marketing efforts.
The work, in three parts.
You might need three or just one. We can help you at each stage of your project.
Story strategy & consultation
Before any filming, we define the goal of the campaign and the path to get there, what needs to be shown, who needs to be on camera, and how it should be shot.
Documentary-style production
Interviews and B-roll shots to feel observational and true, for clients who've done the planning themselves, or as the next step after our consultation.
Reel & cutdown editing
We edit your hero video and cut short-form reels extracted from the same interviews and B-roll to support the platforms your audience is actually on.
How a project moves.
We start by learning about you; we can do an interview or we can do a form you can fill at your own pace.
Discovery call
A conversation about what you're trying to accomplish, who the audience is, and what the finished piece needs to do for you.
Branding form
You will receive a questionnaire with branding questions and some questions about the project.
Story & strategy consultation
We map the goals to a filming plan: what to show, who to interview, and the visual approach that will carry the story.
Shot list & scheduling
Interview subjects, locations, and B-roll opportunities get scheduled around your timeline.
Production
Interviews and B-roll are shot documentary-style, observational, honest, built to hold up in the edit.
Edit & reel extraction
The long-form piece is cut, and short, platform-ready reels are pulled from the same footage.
Delivery
Final files, formatted for wherever the campaign is going to live.
A few projects.
Caring for your story is our story.
"[Edit: drop in a real client quote here, something about how the strategy conversation changed the direction of the project, if you have one. That's the differentiator worth quoting.]", [Client name, role, company]
We believe the best stories don't need to be staged, they need to be understood. Before we ever roll camera, we're listening for the thing that's actually true, then we build everything else around getting that on film.
Listen before you film
Every project starts with a conversation about what the story actually is and how it can impact your communication goals.
Let it be real
Observational, honest footage holds up longer than anything scripted. If a moment feels staged, it's not in the cut.
Design for how it's watched
A campaign lives across a long-form piece and a dozen short reels. We shoot with both in mind from day one, not as an afterthought in the edit.
Before you reach out.
Do I need to know what I want to film before I contact you?
No. Most projects start with a strategy consultation where we figure out the goal, who should be on camera, and what the finished piece needs to do. If you already have a clear plan, we're also happy to come on purely for production.
What's the difference between full production and production-only?
Full production includes the strategy and story development up front. Production-only is for clients who already have that direction set and need an experienced crew to execute it.
Do you edit short-form reels from the footage you shoot?
Yes. Every project can include reel extraction, pulling short, platform-ready cuts from the same interviews and B-roll used for the long-form piece.
Where are you based, and do you travel for shoots?
We're based in Vancouver, BC, and happy to travel, send us anywhere. For shoots further afield, we can bring in local production companies and crew on the ground to support the story, which keeps logistics smooth and travel costs efficient. Travel and accommodation are scoped into the project quote from the start.
How much does a video project cost?
It depends on scope, how many days of filming, how many interview subjects, and how much post-production the piece needs. Rather than publish a flat rate that wouldn't fit most projects, we work out the cost together during your consultation, once we know what the campaign actually needs.
Can you work with footage or photos we already have?
Yes. Existing footage and photos can be woven into a new edit alongside anything we shoot, which often saves time and budget on projects that don't need everything filmed from scratch.
Do you help find or coach interview subjects?
Yes. Part of the strategy consultation is identifying who should be on camera, and we guide subjects through the interview itself so they come across naturally, even if they've never done one before.
Who owns the raw footage after the project is finished?
The finished project belongs to you. We ask to retain the right to feature it in our portfolio and promotional materials, unless we agree otherwise in writing. If a project uses hired actors, continuing to use it beyond the original agreement requires an annual renewal fee to cover their ongoing usage rights. Raw, unedited footage isn't included by default; if you'd like access to it, that's something we scope and discuss separately. Any licensed music used in the edit is cleared for that project only and isn't transferable to other uses.
How many rounds of revisions are included?
Two rounds of revisions are standard on every project. If more are needed, we can add them to the project scope as we go.
Let's talk about the story.
Tell us a bit about the project and we'll set up a consultation.
